IAEP wants in.....Advice needed

To unionize or to not unionize, that is the question. The International Assiciation of EMT's and Paramedics wants to make my ambulance company their newest member. Anybody out there know about this union?? I'd like to hear from somebody who has dealt with these people.......seems they are going right for the vote, I don't even know if we get to hear their sales pitch first.

Our CEO is not a happy camper at this point, not that I could blame him. I know we need some changes, but I don't want to see our company go down. It kind of sucks at this point, so any input would be great.

Thanks!

Stay safe!

I don't know a thing about that particular union but I am a union gurlie thru and thru... Don't they have a local office you can go visit to discuss your issues?

I do my best to stay as far away from Unions as possible. They are what I describe as employment socialization. I try to do what's best for me...if I find that an employer is exploiting me, I go and find another employer. Its that simple. I don't need a Union to take money out of my check for my protection. That's what I have Guido for....

The good thing about unions is that they can provide legal counsel, training, and industry influence. My nephew loves being part of his construction union, because they find him work and offer training opportunities. And unions can come in real handy when there is economic turmoil. There's going to be a lot of increased pressure on employers to cut safety corners, understaff, and reduce wages if the recession worsens, and there will be enough unemployed people that everyman for himself will pretty quickly lead to everyone undermining working conditions. But this particular union? I know nothing about it.

Thanks guys:) Gene too;)...It's an eye opener for the management. They think we are the best ambulance company, but ask others and none would work for us...our EMT's are paid a pitifull wage and transport peeps are the lowest paid. We do have great benefits, but paying the bills is a hard thing to do. I'll keep you all updated:)
