So I have survived my first 40 hours with the big ambulance company. I'm learning so much so fast my head is spinning:) Cheesy, I'll get that pic of me soon. I promise;)
Ok things I have learned my first week on the job.
1.) I hate (most) CNAs. I want to slam their heads into the nearest wall. Most are stupid fucks who have no respect for their patients, I know they have a tough job, but if you can't stand a patient DO NOT TALK ABOUT THEM IN FRONT OF THEM!
2.) Riding in the back of a transport van sucks, no comfy front seat makes my back hurt.
3.) I'm learning to tolerate the smell of shit and infected wounds. Well kind of.
4.) 10% of our patients are why I do this job, it sure isn't the pay.
5.) Nursing homes suck. Shoot me please if I ever end up in one.
6.) Our dispatcher hates all the women transports. I hope karma bites her in the ass very soon.
7.) Wearing this uniform gets alot of attention from the public. Mostly from men. Not always in a good way;)
8.) The place is full of backstabbers, but that's all work places. I hate being new, I hear more shit then I really care to.
9.) We had a recent record for transport weight yesterday. 759 lbs. It took 7 of us to move the guy. Thank god he could stand up.
10.) I found out who my partner will be when I'm done training. A 19 year old redneck guy. They say he whines alot and is a fuck up. I'll give him a chance to prove them wrong.
I hope all of you have been well, I'll start catching up on your blogs now. I NEED to read blogs! I have missed all of you!

Oh goodie looking forward to the uni pic! As for the 19yo.. still young enough to mold! And hopefully a little eye candy too boot?? lol ~~I am such a wench.
The job sounds tough but I am betting all the marbles it will have very rewarding moments and TONS of blog fodder!
Score ten for you for giving your new partner a chance to prove them wrong.
He very well make surprise you.
Just take it a day at a time or a task at a time. Press on. If you look for the bad it'll bite you. Look for good everywhere and enjoy your time off the job as well.
The smell of shit and infected wounds would probably drive me off pretty quickly.
It does sound interesting. Can't wait to hear more about it.
Thanks! I realized that the people saying crap are ones I wouldn't want as partners:)
Oh, my. You sound just plain beat. Get yourself a good sturdy corset to help your back out with all that lifting and sitting in the back of ambulances.
Here's to getting used to the job and excelling.
well done, you're doing so well and learning loads! Proud of you :o)
Thank you:)
Yanub if I wear a corset, it wouldn't be for work;)
700 lbs wow....That is impressive.
What do you mean my CNA? Do you mean certified Nurse Assistant? At my place it means Certified Nurse anestitist. Initials confuse the crap out of me so I try not to use them too much.
I find that the smell of bodily fluids is the least of my problems. You do get used to it. The only thing I have never gotten used to is when a non-patient takes their sneakers off and has major foot odor. There should be a hospital policy for that one. Or maybe I can start a rumor that foot odor causes birth defects....
Thats a nice list you have there..sounds like a blog post for every occassion....
Just keep your wits about you and I am pretty sure you will be OK.
It’s all Mind over mater
If you don’t mind it don’t mater
I know what what you mean about rest homes I worked in one for several years......SUXZORS
Wow....759 lbs. How does that happen??? And might I say also that I am totally impressed that it only took 7 of you to transport him!
God bless ya darlin!!! I saw a shirt today I want to buy and send to you but you are no longer lunch lady!!! It was soooo cute, said "lunch ladies are hot" and was retro...I immediately thought of you!!
