Evil's Flea Market Tips

Ok a little info before I start. My hubby has been doing flea markets for some 15 years. He sells old paper, military items, but mostly coins. He should be at coin shows, but we don't have the time right now. He organizes vendors for a 100 + table indoor market once a month. Here are my tips on how to do well at such events. These tips may not be for yard sales....my expierence is people will by anything at yard sales!

1.) Clean your stuff! Nobody will stop by your table if you have dirty items! Take the time to clean those old pots and pans! (Yeah it IS gross)
2.) Clean yourself! If you are a dirt-ball, do you honestly think anybody wants YOUR junk??
3.) Organize! Don't just throw all your stuff on the table and expect people to dig thru your piles.
4.) If you have new items like crafts etc. Keep your prices flea market scale. People don't pay for anything expensive at these events. Try craft shows instead.
5.) Do your homework on pricing....if you have something you think is "antique" research it. Even if it is a "flea-market", those round eyed customers may very well be collectors. Don't think every person dressed in flannel is stupid:)

Things that don't sell well if at all;

Underwear-unpackaged (eww)
Old toiletries, the kind that look like they lived for years under your sink.
Stained or worn clothes, no matter how cheap. (You can't imagine what I saw yesterday!)
Old magazines, like back issues of Seventeen.....not classics, more like last years.
This is my personal favorite.....SHOES.....if they are worn, scuffed or have your stinky foot indentions in them, they WON'T SELL! Throw them out!
That also goes for purses, if they are beat up, just toss them.
