"The National Day of Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. This year’s event will be held in memory of Lawrence King, a California 8th-grader who was shot and killed Feb. 12 by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression. Hundreds of thousands of students will come together on April 25 to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior".
As a mother of a gay child, I support this day. Although I need to speak as part of my job, I will remember all those who suffered the sometimes never ending torment.

Thank You:)
It's a good cause. Attitudes have to change across the board.
Great to hear such a supportive parent! One of my lifelong besties has been out for almost 10 years and is still afraid to tell her parents (and I might add, is a Ph.D.). I've got an officer buddy of mine who told me her mother would disown her if she ever told her she was gay. How horrible. I might be conservative but at least I'm open minded and not judgemental. I hurt for them, I can't imagine having to hide the biggest and best part of my life-my marriage-from anyone, much less my family.
I never understood that! It's your child! My only wish is that she finds her true love!
