More things I hate....

In the very near future I will have to do two things I absolutely hate.

Buy shoes for my new job and buying a new/used car.

I'll start with the shoe problem. Ok guys I'm not a typical female, I hate shoe shopping! Maybe if I was a petite size 6, it wouldn't be an issue. No, I'm an amazon size 11. I usually go for a wide width shoe because I wear supportive insoles. Not serious insoles, just more support, like Dr. Scholl's.

Dress shoes I don't use them, just all day shoes I do. So here lies the problem:

When you have that big of a foot, there are no other sizes to play around with. If the shoe runs small (like Nike and NB) I'm screwed. The company I'll be working for wears black shoes, now I will be buying "shoes" for now. And possibly more of a work boot for winter. Sigh, thank God for the Men's dept.!

On to the new vehicle. This new job is much more of a drive then my last one. Also there will be no school "snow days". If it snows, I'm sure I'll still have to go in. So the problem is I need a better ride. I currently drive a 1998 Plymouth Breeze (stop laughing!)

It's ready for the junk yard, the engine is starting to wheeze and well we don't want to plunk any more money into it. Hubby wants me to get a 4-wheel drive. I do too, but shit, I hate shopping for it! It's like buying a very expensive surprise package. You never know what is inside!

I'd like to test drive one of these.... It's a Ford Escape. I'm going on looks alone, 'cuz that's how I roll;) . Of course it will have to be used. We can't afford a high car payment. I'd love a Nissan Exterra, but the guys at our repair shop cringed when I said that. Not one of their favorites I'm sure.

Well that's all for now, Have a great weekend!

You may want to consider getting steel toe steel shank boots. It will help if something rolls over your feet or if you get stepped on. Also Dr Scholls inserts. No matter what shoes you are wearing you will need them.
As for the car check into Subaru. They are all wheel drive. (More parts are made in America than an "American" car these days.) I love my Legacy. It is 10yo and we have never had a major repair.

Just noticed the snow problem. I am a Toyota girl. Even non 4 wheel drive Toyota's do well in snow. I currently drive a Rav 4 and the mantenance has been minimal and the gas milelage not too bad for a 4 wheel drive. Good luck with car shopping

a cute girl like you ought to buy a convertable and ride around with the top down

Pink- I love the Rav 4s! My hubby drives a 91 Toyota Supra;)when he isn't driving his pick-up. It's a sports car, but for how old it is it runs like it's new!

Putz, hahaha, yeah that would work for three months out of the year;)

BIL Drives a subaru.. Good mileage and handles GREAT in the snow. We found it used [2001] for 8k...
Do you have a store called Big 5 there?? That is where I get my black work shoes for about 50% less than the major stores.... Also check out Zappos.com. Free shipping both ways and they are the BOMB for customer service. I love "shopping" there

Cheesy- No Big 5, but I've used Zappos, I love them! Haven't bought anything there since my kids "Chucks". I will check them out:)

We've 2 subaru's in my family, and they're wonderful cars. I've got a '05 Subaru Forester, which I've NEVER encountered road conditions up here in New England, it didn't just eat up (with regular all-weather tires!) and I get about 28mpg with it. My baby-sister has a '02 subaru outback-sport, nice little thing, which she says drives extremely well, even in Vermont mountain winters. They've both been extremely reliable. They also hold their value well. The Forester drives very very well. Volvo wagons, even the old ones, feel more boat-behemoth like than the Forester, and it's got incredible visibility, too.

I've never had anything but great luck with my Saturn and my Buick. Everything else - not so much.

My friends mock me for driving a Buick - that I'm channeling my inner elderly person. However, we've has almost no repairs in 6 years and they've all had major issues and a couple of vehicles.

Do you research on repairs & reliability and save yourself some heartache (and your budget).
